BRASS

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, important for its strength, workability, ductility, wear-resistance, hardness, electrical and thermal conductivity, and corrosion-resistance.

Brass was first used 1200 BC in the Near East, then extensively in China after 220 BC, and soon thereafter by the Romans.

The significant term `brass’ is exclusively chosen as abbreviation for Bukit Rangin Secondary School. The strong combination between copper and zinc of an alloy denotes the importance of the relationship between two elements community of BRASS i.e. i) the school community and ii) the surrounding community. Copper which dominates the workability of brass signifies the school community (teachers, staff and students) which can work better with the help of the surrounding community (Parents and Teachers Association, the neighbourhood community and the surroundings) as the content of zinc in alloy.

The community of BRASS as the main element plays the greatest role to perform for the development of the school and the latter is to support the earlier in order to produce a tremendous result (alloy).  Thus, it is hoped that the community of BRASS will occupy the hardness, strength and workability of the alloy.

B – Brilliant
Meaning          :        kepantasan akal (bijak)

R – Resilient

Meaning           :       fikir, faham dan bertindak dengan mudah dan segera (tangkas)

Brass adalah aloi TEMBAGA dan ZINK yang penting kerana kekerasan, ketahanan, kekuatan, sifat antimikrobnya, keberkesanannya sebagai konduktor elektrik dan haba serta rintangan kakisannya.

Aloi mula digunakan 1200 SM di Timur Dekat, digunakan secara meluas di China selepas 220 SM, dan tidak lama selepas itu oleh orang-orang Rom.

Istilah `brass’ dipilih khas sebagai singkatan untuk Bukit Rangin Secondary School. Hubungan kuat antara tembaga dengan  zink dalam aloi menunjukkan kepentingan hubungan antara dua elemen komuniti BRASS iaitu komuniti sekolah dan komuniti setempat. Tembaga diibaratkan seperti komuniti sekolah (guru-guru, kakitangan sokongan dan murid-murid) yang akan bekerja lebih baik dengan bantuan komuniti setempat (Persatuan Ibu Bapa dan Guru, jiran setempat dan persekitaran) seperti mana kandungan zink dalam aloi.

Komuniti BRASS sebagai elemen utama memainkan peranan terpenting untuk memajukan sekolah. Elemen kedua akan menyokong elemen utama untuk menghasilkan keputusan yang hebat (seperti aloi). Oleh itu, adalah diharapkan warga BRASS akan menyerupai kekerasan, kekuatan dan ketahanan aloi.
